Caesium Molybdates

The preparation of the normal salt has not been described, but the following polymolybdates have been obtained: 5Cs₂O.12MoO₃.11H₂O; 2Cs₂O.5MoO₃.5H₂O; Cs₂O.3MoO₃.H₂O; Cs₂O.4MoO₃.3H₂O; and Cs₂O.5MoO₃.3H₂O. By treating the salt last formulated, the pentamolybdate, with concentrated nitric acid, a yellow amorphous powder is obtained which has been described as a hexadecamolybdate, Cs₂O.16MoO₃.8H₂O, but such composition is very doubtful.
