Rubidium Trimolybdate, Rb2Mo3O10.2H2O

Rubidium Trimolybdate, Rb2Mo3O10.2H2O or 3H2O, is prepared by fusing rubidium carbonate with excess of molybdenum trioxide and extracting with boiling water. Brilliant hexagonal crystals, soluble in water, are deposited. A hydrate, of the approximate composition Rb2O.3MoO3.6½H2O, is a product of the decomposition of the paramolybdate by hot water.
