Thallous Molybdate, Tl2MoO4

Thallous Molybdate, Tl2MoO4, may be prepared by boiling molybdenum trioxide with thallous hydroxide or carbonate solution; by the addition of a thallous salt to a solution of a normal molybdate; or by heating the fluoroxymolybdate, MoO2F2.2TlF, to redness in air. The salt is slightly soluble in cold water, more soluble in hot water, and from the hot solution it crystallises in pearly leaflets. It dissolves in alkali hydroxides and in aqueous hydrofluoric acid. On strongly heating it melts to a yellow liquid.
